NUS Ilsa Tari’s Pengabdian Batin (Malay for Inner Enslavement) is a contemporary Malay Dance production, choreographed by Osman Abdul Hamid, that aims to deconstruct stigma surrounding Intimate Partner Violence amongst the Malay/Muslim community.
Collaborating with NUS Dikir Barat, NUS Ilsa Tari presents a soulful and immersive experience that challenges the gendered lens which define hegemonic structures of patriarchy and masculinity. Through sound and movement, we hope to illuminate dark spaces and offer comfort to those hidden and silenced.
