NUS Fingerstyle Guitar

NUS Fingerstyle Guitar (NUSFG) is a CCA under NUS Centre For Performing Arts (CFA) dedicated to the art of fingerstyle guitar. Established in 2019 first as a student interest group, the then-called Acoustic Guitar Club (AGC) serves as a valuable platform for fingerstyle guitarists and has formed a passionate community of guitarists and music lovers to have fun together and learn from each other. The club has also achieved many milestones since its inception.

Fingerstyle is a versatile art form that incorporates techniques utilizing the guitar to its full potential. The club strives to help its members learn and appreciate fingerstyle guitar and music as a whole. With this goal in mind, NUSFG holds weekly practice and workshop sessions to cover topics including music theory, guitar techniques, music arrangement and composition, home and studio recording techniques, and so on. It also provides various opportunities for aspiring fingerstyle guitarists to showcase their talents through semester showcases, charity events, and the CCA’s social media platforms. NUSFG presents annual concert in the name of “Estrella” – Spanish word for “stars” – to showcase the talents and passion of guitarists within and even outside the CCA, featuring guest performers from various music groups and organizations.

Recent productions of NUSFG include Serenity in December 2021; Estrella in May 2022; and Estrella II in May 2023.
