The finer points of arts management; my internship experience

March 27, 2020

During my internship with NUS CFA TDP, I got the opportunity to work with the various CFA departments (including NUS Museum and CFA Marcomms), as well as interact with students from the diverse spectrum of performing arts groups (including NUS Symphony Orchestra and NUS Dance Synergy). While forming memorable bonds with my colleagues and the students, this internship has allowed me to understand the mechanisms behind arts management, improve on my interpersonal communication skills, as well as fuel my passion and appreciation for the arts.

What really tugged at my heartstrings was the common strive to pursue artistic excellence (both onstage and behind-the-scenes). The dedication, earnestness and ardour within the staff and students alike brought me back to the basis of arts management – serving the arts community with diligence, to build a sustainable and vibrant arts scene. Being a recent SOTA graduate, performing on stage was almost my second nature. However, my time here really exposed me to the arts management sector, and the rewards have greatly exceeded the canvas of my imagination.
