What does it take to become a docent at a heritage museum?

Meet Dawn! Dawn Marie Lee is a docent at the NUS Baba House and former Co-Editor in Chief at Passage Magazine: a publication led by Friends of the Museum featuring articles on Singaporean and Asian art, culture, history and the local museum and heritage scene. She has been guiding heritage tours at Baba House since 2015 and is also a docent at the Peranakan Museum.

Dawn contributes her time to sharing her knowledge about Baba House and Peranakan culture to visitors, narrating the history of the family who used to inhabit the space and experiences shared by the wider Peranakan community. Join Dawn as she shares what it takes to become a successful docent and how guiding at the Baba House has shaped her editorial work and her perception of her identity. Afterwards, get a chance to participate in a guided tour of the house led by Dawn and the NUS Baba House staff.

For this Brown Bag, we are providing free ang ku kuehs from Ji Xiang confectionery.

*Please note that due to ongoing conservation survey works at the house, the air well will be blocked by scaffolding during this programme. The tour route will not be affected and will proceed as normal. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
