EMCC | Build-A-Bridge 2022

Physical Exhibition Ends 18 Feb 2022, 11:59 pm

Online Exhibition Ends 15 Apr 2022, 11:59 pm

NUS University Town, Town Plaza

Students from the NUS Seeds of Good Project collaborated with the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) to present the second edition of Build-A-Bridge: An arts project that aims to build a bridge of understanding, appreciation and connection between Singapore’s migrant worker community and the NUS student body.

Artists from MWC have submitted works of photography and/or poetry, and in response to their creations, the NUS student community submitted music, dance, poetry or short film works. The theme for this edition of Build-A-Bridge, presented as part of the ExxonMobil Campus Concerts (EMCC), is Slow Connection. Slow Connection invites us to explore various methods of (re)building friendships as we face disruptions to our daily lives. Through the process of creating the response piece, both migrant artists and student artists would have interacted with each other, forming unique and meaningful connections.

Works from the migrant and student artists are showcased in an online exhibition, as well as a physical launch at NUS University Town, Town Plaza.

Much thought and sincerity has been poured into making Build-A-Bridge happen, and the students hope that you will enjoy viewing the pieces.

About Migrant Workers’ Centre

Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) is a non-government organisation whose mission is to champion fair employment practices and the well-being of migrant workers in Singapore. The MWC does this by pursuing 4 main thrusts, namely: fairness, assistance, integration and representation.

About Build-A-Bridge

This edition of Build-A-Bridge was organised by 11 NUS Year 2 students as part of the NUS Seeds of Good Project. Students from varying disciplines came together to plan and execute Build-A-Bridge, alongside guidance from representatives from the NUS Centre For the Arts. The students hope the project is as enjoyable to you, as it is to them!
