Get To Know Our Museum Team

Ever wondered about the behind-the-scenes of how a museum functions? Who works there, what they do, what they’re interested in? The NUS Museum Brown Bag Series is a series of conversations between NUS Museum staff and the NUS community — all over a catered lunch here at the museum. Come for a byte-sized talk and more than several bites of food.

From August to October (AY23/24 Semester 1) we will be hosting three conversations, one per month. Stay tuned for more!

Our first speaker is Wardah Mohamad, a member of the Faculty and Community Engagement team.

With an educational background in design, Wardah worked in various contemporary art galleries before joining the NUS Museum in 2016. Here, she manages public school engagements, communication and outreach, and over the past few years created a striking design identity for the museum’s socials. Her newest project had her step up to the role of project curator – PJOC, Photography Journal Open Call, is a showcase of works by nine participants from the NUS community that opened on August 16, just the week prior to this talk.

Join us on the 22nd of August from 12.30 to 1.30pm to learn more about her work and experiences here at the university museum!

Our second speaker is Siddharta Perez, curator for the South and Southeast Asian Collection and Contemporary Projects.

Siddharta has a background in organising and writing. Working with artists, galleries, and archives since 2006, she has then persisted as a curator working independently and cross-institutionally. Primarily through collectives and cultural exchanges, Sidd’s work is inspired by the relationships among different practices (programming, jury duty, administration and creative research) as well as regional dialogues between cultural spaces.

Sidd joined the NUS Museum in 2015. As curator for the South and Southeast Asian Collections and contemporary projects, her current realm of expression orbits in methods and curatorial approaches as expressed in the NUS Museum’s prep-room. Currently focused on the prep-room Open programme, Sidd weaves interdisciplinary proposals for the NUS Museum. She is also helming the project on boat models from Nusantara, along with the systemising and display of the archives of T.K. Sabapathy and Jimmy Ong. Sidd serves as the NUS Museum Curatorial Lead and co-teaches several university courses within NUS.

Join us on the 12th of September to get to know Sidd and her work!
