The NUS Jazz Band returns to the iconic Blu Jaz Café with our Semester 1 Showcase: On Bali Lane. Situated at the historic Kampong Glam, Blu Jaz Café is a hotspot for rising and established jazz musicians and has become a landmark in the local jazz scene. The café has seen local acts such as Sean Hong Wei, Andrew Lim, Soh Wen Ming, and our very own artistic director Chok Kerong perform multiple sold-out shows.
On Bali Lane is a celebration of new beginnings, especially for our newly recruited musicians as they explore the rich repertoire and heritage of jazz music. Guided by our artistic director, we will be performing jazz music through the swing, big band, bebop, post-bop, and modern era while experimenting with brand new arrangements and creative instrumentations. The showcase will feature traditional combo (4-6 piece) bands and a scaled-down-yet-powerful Small Big Band.
