Join us at the NUS Museum this school holiday for our archaeology workshop! In this 2-hour programme, children will get a chance to role-play as archaeologists through the process of examining a small excavation site specially designed by the museum. Participants will work together with their guardians to dig, reconstruct broken fragments, make inferences, and uncover the histories of various sites. In the process, they will go through the steps professional archaeologists typically take in their work including excavation, documentation, object identification, and presenting their findings to an audience. Inspired by actual archaeological sites in Singapore which are represented in the NUS Museum’s Archaeology Library and NUS Baba House, participants will also learn more about Singapore’s pre-colonial and colonial histories along the way.

Note:

• This programme is meant for adult-child pairs; each child must be accompanied by an adult who will both participate in the full duration of the programme.

• This programme is most suitable for children in Upper Primary (aged 10 – 12).

• The Be an Archaeologist for a Day programmes held at the NUS Museum and the NUS Baba House are similar, with a difference in location. You are encouraged to sign-up for only one of the two sessions.

• Each session has limited capacity. You will be put on a waitlist once maximum capacity has been reached, and the team will contact you once a slot opens up.
